User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:11.0a1) Gecko/20111109 Firefox/11.0a1 Build ID: 20111109031111 Steps to reproduce: Updated browser to latest nightly, 11-9-2011, and when browser restarted all app tabs are gone. Attempted new, clean profile with no extensions enabled or add-ons, and still have the data lose. I suspect it might have something to do with recent updates to places which is causing the issue. I can manage to keep 1 or 2 app tabs open without lose, more than that they disappear every time. Actual results: App Tabs vanish. Expected results: App Tabs still be there.

Now its not keeping any app tabs at all. Not a single one. I've tried another new profile and switching what I try to save as a tab from gmail, G+, facebook, or random news sites.

I can confirm this happened to me on this morning restart with my regular profile. Regular tabs are restored but all the "app tabs" are gone :( What should I provide? Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:11.0a1) Gecko/20111109 Firefox/11.0a1 ID:20111109031111 Adblock Plus 1.3.11a.3200 Add-on Compatibility Reporter 0.9.2 Default 11.0a1 Diccionario de Español/España 1.5 Diccionario español Mexico 1.1.2 [DISABLED] Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus 1.1.3a.342 Flashblock 1.5.15b2 Nightly Tester Tools 3.2 Pixlr Grabber 2.1.1 Shockwave Flash 11.0.1.152 Test Pilot 1.2 Wallflower 1.0

Make a backup of sessionstore.js from your profile and then delete it. You're going to start fresh. 1. Start Nightly 2. Open 3 tabs 3. Pin 1 of them 4. Quit 5. Start Nightly When "restore windows & tabs" is your startup preference, all tabs should be there. When "home page" is your startup preference, your app tab & home page should be there. If that still doesn't work, then disable all of your addons (safe mode) & repeat. When starting a testing cycle be sure to not have a sessionstore.js file to ensure a fresh start.

ok, found it. For some odd reason there is two default user profile folders for me. I deleted the one that didnt contain the file. Anyway, followed all your steps Paul, both in safe mode and after, on an entirely new profile and my older one, and even reinstalled nightly. Still the same lose of app tabs.

Also, if I close firefox, take a saved sessionstore.js that contains my app tabs and replace it with the one in the folder then restart all my tabs are there. But if I close the browser and reload it all are lost again.

I am apparently having lose in FF8 as well now that I actually checked it.

I see same problem in latest m-c hourly build, loss of pinned app tab. In options I have 'show my homepage' set in the General Tab. I just tested with a new profile, and after nuking the install directory folder, still losing pinned app tabs on startup. If this is happening in release version of 8.0, this should be 'critical/blocker' ?

Ok tested farther. New FF8 profiles are not effected unless that profile is then opened in nightly. So it is limited to nightly nuking all data. Should have tested that earlier, but I can confirm there is no issue in FF8 as long as nightly is not involved. Im going to go download aurora real quick and make sure it is not nuking profiles.

@chaosfreedom1220 , this is very likely going to be a dupe of 701481, and it now has a patch waiting review that fixes the problem.

Thanks for looking into this and being very quick with your replies. I'm marking this a duplicate of bug 701481 since that had the error and I attached a patch there.
