I just got an automatic upgrade to the newer version of thunderbird "Earlybird" (for this week's release train switchover)

My first run with the new version had a "What's New in Earlybird!" tab displayed (inside the Thunderbird UI), but that tab had a Firefox favicon on it.

It looks like that content is hosted at
  http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/earlybird/whatsnew/
so this page is probably just using the default icon for mozilla.org.

We should be sending the Earlybird (or perhaps Thunderbird) icon as the favicon for that page, since it shows up in Thunderbird UI.
