Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0
Build ID: 20111104165243
Steps to reproduce:
Upgraded to T'bird ver 8.0 from prior version when prompted and selected Yes / Yes when asked about Add-ons without changing any settings. My OS is Windows XP Home Version.
Actual results:
Opened new version and had screen with Email / Newgroups etc. Try to choose Read messages under email but nothing happens. Select Inbox and can see Message List and read messages and go between messages (although message header and message toolbar are not there...different problem). When select a subfolder of Inbox, the Message List remains the Inbox list and email content remains last Inbox email that I had selected. Choosing any other folders does not resolve and in fact now I can't select a new message from the Inbox Message List although I can scroll through the Inbox Message List. Eventually determined that by selecting a folder and RMB / Open that a new window would open from which I could peruse messages in that selected folder UNTIL I select another folder in this new window and it locks up again same as the original Inbox window. RMB / Open in New Tab opens a new tab but Message List is blank and message is still original last selected from Inbox.
Expected results:
Get to folder / message list / message view and when select folder it changes to the appropriate message list and can view messages in that message list.
When I uninstalled 8.0 and installed 7.0.1 the problems disappeared. I had previously tried to reinstall (i.e. not remove prior) 8.0 but that did not work.

James, please, could you answer to comment #2?

No, the issue is not gone. With version 7.0.1 which I currently have installed there is no problem. However, when I install version 8.0 the problem comes back. I would be happy to try any suggestions but until then I will stay hunkered down with version 7.0.1.

James, can you reproduce with current version started in safe mode? And if yes, can you restate reproduction as a few short steps?
