There is no way to add "vanilla" Google Search to the Search bar. Default on Linux Mint 11 is LinuxMint Google Custom Search.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1
Build ID: 20110422205559

Steps to reproduce:

Deleted the annoyingly cluttered LinuxMint Google Custom Search from the Search Providers listed in the Search bar, as the official Google Search Suggestions is desired, not a Google Custom Search with an ugly theme and my OS name all over it.

Attempted to lookup the official Google Search Suggestions add-on, only to find that hundreds of third-party Search add-ons are listed but Google by Google (or Google by Firefox) is not.

Attempted to Restore Default Search behaviours, but that restored the ugly, less usable LinuxMint Google Search.

Actual results:

I'm stuck searching from the Address bar, which is fine, but renders the Search bar rather secondary and disused.

Expected results:

The Firefox Add-ons page should list the Default add-ons for Search, so that they may be added individually, or be used to replace OEM Search modifications such as the LinuxMint Google Search.

For that matter, I'd like to see the ability to search any page just by Adding it from the Search bar drop down. I'm not interested in adding a hundred add-ons to Firefox.
You should be able to install any of the Google search engines at http://mycroft.mozdev.org/google-search-plugins.html to override the default engine.

Since this isn't a problem with builds of Firefox provided by Mozilla, there isn't much we can do to solve this problem. Being able to more easily override shipped-by-default search engines is covered by bug 353056, and exposing the default search engines more visibly isn't something that we're likely to spend time doing since it would only benefit a small minority of users.
