Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0
Build ID: 20111104165243

Steps to reproduce:

I always have ~20 tabs open. After some time the FF starts to stop responding for 2 seconds periodically. The flash videos stop and when I type anything the cursor stops and so on. I've done a reinstall from zero but it didn't help. I have to restart the whole browser to heal it and then it's fine for a while but later it starts again the whole thing.

Actual results:

These are the addresses of my always open tabs:

Check on http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck whether your plug-ins are up to date.

Looks OK to me.

By the way I experienced the same issue with the few previous FF versions as well.

possibly a dupe of bug 490122 - bug 565217 might help later

I can confirm, we have around 80 installations of Firefox, all version 47.0.1 (but this happened on previous versions as well, at least past 2 versions), all on Win 7 x64, and ALL behave in the same manner after 2-3 day. Every single instance of FF periodically becomes unresponsive for 2-5 second until FF is completely shut down and restarted.

Same thing happens when FF is started in Safe Mode (with add-ons disabled) and same thing happens if FF is not in use (if the tabs just sit open for 2-3 days)

Also, the problem persists if all tabs are closed and new pages opened in new tabs, periodic slowdowns still happen, and progressively get worse and worse (they last longer and time between slowdowns is shorter and shorter)

Also, it's not tied to specific websites, it happens every time, on any website, as long as FF is in use more than 2-3 days.

¡Hola Oliver, Marko!

Could you please follow https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Performance/Reporting_a_Performance_Problem and provide a couple of profiles from Firefefox 48 so the performance problem could be looked at objectively?

¡Gracias!
Alex
