How could this be related to 69836? I don't see any connections. After my
checkin, POP was working. This sounds like a regression after my landing.

Buildid:2001030105 for mac. So far with this build:
-After installing the build, opened mail and selected the existing profile which
has imap, pop, webmail account. I have saved password for the imap account not
for pop account. The first time I clicked on get message to log into pop account
and it did not bring up the password dialog box.
-I closed the application and went back in again and then clicked on get message
the password dlg appeared. Logged into the account. I could send and receive
mail successfully.
-For every move and copy I get an unknown error 80004005.
-After that every time I clicked on that message unknown error is persistent.
-Delete is still not functional. Trying to delete a message get the following error:
Alert dlg :mozilla could not write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file
system allows you write privilieges and enough disk space to copy the mailbox'
with a okay button. Ok to the alert.
-I closed the application and crashed.
-I open mail again. I logged into pop account successfully. Send a plain text
message. Received the message. Send a reply still okay. Tried to move, copy,
that message within pop folders get unknown error as before.
-I crashed again when trying to forward a message as an attachment.(This is a
preference that can be changed from default inline to forwarding messages as as
attachment)
-I changed the preference - forward messages to be inline and could forward the
message without crash.

I am using a mozilla debug build from today's noon. I can log correctly on a pop
account, get message , view them, etc... BUT, if I try to delete a message, I
get the error #80004005 and then, nothing works anymore. Looks like the message
DB get corrupted, that would explain everything...

same thing append with local folder. Does this problem occurs on Linux? I am
asking that because both Mac and Linux are using a 1 byte line feed.

The "unknown error" after delete is being thrown from this method.
This method is being called from outside mozilla/mailnews with
aStatus having value of NS_ERROR_FAILURE. Does anyone know why ?
NS_IMETHODIMP nsMsgProtocol::OnStopRequest(nsIRequest *request, nsISupports
*ctxt, nsresult aStatus, const PRUnichar* aMsg)
Comment 25•24 years ago

naving: i don't have a mac build to check this, but can you find out who's
implementing the nsIRequest in that OnStopRequest method. That will
help track down the source of the NS_ERROR_FAILURE. I suspect it
might be netwerk/base/src/nsSocketTransport.cpp, in which case i'd be
very interested! thx!

I'm seeing a failure to open the local "Trash" file, because it's already open
for writing. Maybe this is the 'stream dtor should close the file' bug?
