Build ID: 20110928134238

Steps to reproduce:

I try to load a torrent file in my NAS Iomega StorCenter iX2

Actual results:

Nothing, doesn't work

Expected results:

Until Firefox 3.6 this task was running perfectly (still it works with IE, Google Chrome, etc.)
Please provide steps to reproduce.

>I try to load a torrent file in my NAS Iomega StorCenter iX2
How do you do that ?
Mounted drive or via direct network access ?
I'm sorry I don't understand your questions, but I'll try to explain better the issue.
The Iomega StorCenter is a NAS disk with many features. You can control all its functions by means of a web page (I think it may be html code) addressed on the LAN.
On this page you have the possibility to manage also "torrent" downloads.
There is a specific procedure to do this: first you save the torrent files on the hard disk of the computer, then you load the files, one at a time, through the web page of the StorCenter. You have a navigation window to select the file, then you click a button and this is all. The donwload automatically starts.
Well, this was working perfectly till version 3.6 of Firefox.
With Firefox 4, Firefox 5, Firefox 6, Firefox 7, Firefox 8, this does not work anymore. I waited until now, thinking that the bug shall be corrected at a good time, but nothing happens. I have Firefox 7 installed now because with Firefox 8 also the spell checker does not work anymore.
I mention another problem, which I think may be related: after Firefox 3.6, I cannot upload any file on my online storage service 4shared.com filehost.
On 4shared the scenery is alike: you use a window to navigate to the file, then you clisck to upload it.
Please note, as I wrote above, that all those things works perfectly if I use another browser, IE, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, all are ok for every task.
But I wish to stay with Firefox.
Thank you very much for your attention.
You still didn't describe the problem good enough.
>first you save the torrent files on the hard disk of the computer

You download a .torrent file somewhere and save it on your local hdd ?

>then you load the files, one at a time, through the web page of the StorCenter
Then you do an upload via html post ?
Example: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=705445&action=enter -> Browser Button

>You have a navigation window to select the file, then you click a button and this is all.
Do you mean the html file input box that triggers a filepicker to select the file on the local hdd that you want to upload to the NAS (like the example above) or do you mean some webinterface from the NAS to manage the uploaded torrent file to start the download ?
At which step does it fail ?
Do you see errors related to the NAS Webinterface in the Firefox Error Console ?

This can be still a bug in the webinterface if they use User Agent sniffing.
We need technical information to find the reason for the problem to either be sure that it's a bug in the webinterface or a bug in Firefox. A bug in Firefox is possible but again, we need more information to understand the problem or it can't be fixed. This is difficult because there is no public testcase.
Attached image an example of session
I have send an attachment (pdf file) that I hope can explain.
Thank yuo very much again.
You get that error also if the .torrent is for example located directly in c:\ ?
Do you see errors in the firefox error console ?
I wonder why putting the file into C:\ should make a difference, anyway, I've checked and it doesn't: I get the same result.

I have checked also the error console, I have purged it before and then made a temptative to load a torrent: nothing at all in the error console, it remains empty.

Thank you very much for your assistance, I understand that this is not a critical problem because I can always use another browser to do certain tasks.

Have a nice day.
Summary: NAS access → Uploading a torrent file onto NAS Iomega StorCenter iX2 not working
> I understand that this is not a critical problem because I can always use another

The problem is that it's nearly impossible to find the reason for this problem.
You can only fix something if you know the reason.
Severity: normal → S3
