The "Open All in Tabs" in Firefox 8.0 should not switch focus to the newly opened tab if the option to switch focus when opening a link in a new tab is not selected

(Firefox :: Bookmarks & History, defect)

8 Branch
Windows 7
Not set

(Reporter: koranthus, Unassigned)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0
Build ID: 20111104165243

Steps to reproduce:

I made sure the option was deselected that reads "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately." I made a bookmark group with multiple bookmarks therein and later proceeded to click on the option at the bottom of the bookmark folder listed as "Open All in Tabs"

Actual results:

All of the tabs opened as expected but unexpectedly left the first tab open while switching focus away from that tab.

Expected results:

Either, the first tab should have been closed or reused by Firefox, as when opening a single bookmark, OR the focus should not have been switched away from the first tab. I realize some users may actually like the currently functionality in FF8, but it should, at the very least, be controlled by an option in the Tools->Tabs menu (preferably) or in about:config (less preferably)

just an effect of bug 440093 that changed the behavior to avoid possible dataloss (by replacing the current tab) and confusing behavior (replace current tab rather than all tabs).
The wanted behavior is under-defined so far.
Blocks: 440093
Wanted behaviour is 1) to control whether focus is switched to the new batch of opened bookmarks with an option in Tools->Tabs or 2) don't switch focus away from current tab when opening multiple bookmarks or 3) make it an option to reuse the current tab when opening multiple bookmarks.
Per policy at If this bug is not an enhancement request or a bug not present in a supported release of Firefox, then it may be reopened.
