See bug 586010, which did the same thing for dump(). This would help a lot for debugging web apps, until we get shiny fancy tools like remote web console.
Jose Manuel brings up that the default error handler (the one that would log to the firefox error console) should also be sending messages to logcat for now. I'm not sure if it's using the same service as console.error.
