On a new install on a new phone my favorite sites list shows up as a bunch of grey boxes for sites that I've never visited. To say nothing of the fact that these favorites are not useful to me, the start page the first time I launch the browser looks bad.
I suggest that it would make sense to only show a favorite site if there is some way to determine that I have actually visited the site - say by detecting if there is a screenshot or favicon cached locally.

I've fixed that as part of bug 704490. It will show your sites you actually visited recently.
