Details

I experience significant jank and very low fps (0-5) rates when scrolling pages on my HTC Desire. Interestingly, if I keep my finger on the screen and move the page around, after a second or so I get smooth movement and very high fps (2000-3000). When I take my finger off of the screen the fps drops back down to low rates and I get jank when I try to scroll the page.
bug 706615 has some similarity (and I certainly am experiencing the issues described in both bugs) however I get the issue as I reported here when I start to move the page (as opposed to when slowing down to reach a final page position). When I first go to move the page I move my finger, there is a delay, and then the page jumps to where my finger has moved. I do not get a smooth page motion that tracks my finger movement as soon as my finger touches the screen. Note that I do not have this issue on my Samsung Galaxy S II, which is a faster phone.
duping to bug 706615 for now. The low FPS is due to bug 705171.
