Hi Pascal, We're redesigning mozilla.org/mobile to include more value props and information for our users. Mockup can be found here: https://bug699976.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=579371 We would like to localize this new page in Russian, Spanish (Spain), Italian, Czech, French, German, Portugese (Portugal), Danish, Chinese, Polish, Norsk, Nederlands, Japanese, Finnish, and Korean. The bottom portion with the "want to test latest features" and "developer tool" sections are taken from the current /mobile page so probably does not need to be localized again. We are shooting to implement this page Dec 20 for the Firefox 9 tablet release. It would be great if we could implement all the locales at the same time :) Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!
Hey Pascal, is there anything else I can help with to get this started? To align with our upcoming ad campaign, we are hoping to get the de/ja/fr versions up as soon as possible.
Pascal/Jaclyn, making this dependent on Bug 712503. Please don't move this forward until we get the copy needed back over on the en-US site. The page's primary purpose is to identify to the user that they are on the most up-to-date version of Firefox and then advertise something new for them to use. Thanks!
Hey Chrissie - this L10N is for www.mozilla.org/mobile, not /fx - does it still have to be dependent on Bug 712503? The page's primary purpose is for mobile downloads.
(In reply to Jaclyn Fu from comment #3) > Hey Chrissie - this L10N is for www.mozilla.org/mobile, not /fx - does it > still have to be dependent on Bug 712503? The page's primary purpose is for > mobile downloads. Hey Jaclyn, two things: Blocker *let's wait for Bug 704040 to be resolved, since this impacts the content on the page Not a Blocker *this page should be redirecting to /mobile/android for seo (so I need to open a bug for that), and we would want that same structure to be applied to the locales (not a blocker for l10n).
I'll work on that next week, so more in the 1.3 cycle
FYI, we have that page for all locales we have on the Android Market. Norwegian is listed in comment #0 but we don't support this locale on mobile AFAIK
Looking at the L10N dashboard and chatting with choffman, we have a better understanding of which locales native UI is going to ship with and what locales we should have available for our Firefox for Android content. It was noted that we should not prioritize certain locales, I understand some locales are more stretched than others so I'm open to suggestions. Locales likely that FF Android will be shipped with: be ca cs da de es-AR es-ES et eu fl fr fy-NL ga-IE gd gl he hu id it ja ja-JP-mac ko lt nb-NO pa-IN pl pt-BR pt-PT ro ru sk sl sq th tr zh-CN zh-TW
Can we aim to get the localizations done mid-May? We're expecting Firefox for Android to ship late May/early June
Pascal, any estimate re: comment #8?
That's 23 more locales in addition to what we already have on production, I have added that task for these additional locales to their dashboard and the most active localizers should translate them quickly. I will file per locale bugs by the end of the week. You can check the work in progress here, we can publish a locale when we have all the strings for the locale translated: http://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~pascalc/langchecker/?locale=all&website=0&file=mobile.lang We should have most of the locales done by the end of April, there is a couple ones I don't expect to be done (Belarusian is regularly late on web parts for example). Also, I don't know what language is the fl locale code listed in comment #8
