There's also no horizontal scrollbar, so it's hard to tell whether there's more content off to the right that I can't see.

Deb, could you please post a screenshot? I've redone most of the layout of the start page as part of bug 706667. Just want to make sure this is fixed in the new code.
about:home changed significantly since you filed this, closing it now. Please reopen with a screenshot if you still have this problem
