To release Firefox in Acholi, we need a way to promote it. We do that via http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/ web pages. There's a set of pages that are essential to having a successful Firefox localization and promotion, and those depend on the files listed below. All the files can be found on Mozilla's SVN server, and they will be added in your locale folder in webdashboard bug. Files that need to be translated are, namely: * /firefox/index.html * /firefox/4/firstrun/index.html * /firefox/4/firstrun/fallback.inc.html * /included/l10n/snippets.lang * /includes/l10n/main.lang * /includes/l10n/newsletter.lang * /download/index.html * /download/content.inc.html * /plugincheck/index.html * /plugincheck/content.inc.html * /firefox/channel/index.html * /firefox/channel/content.inc.html Besides those, it would be nice to following page(s) translated: * /about/ but it's not required. Also, the "Getting Started" bug deals with * /firefox/central/ The Acholi team will be driving this bug to completion.
San, We're storing our mozilla.org l10n pages on SVN server, and path to your locale's files, the one you should clone, is https://svn.mozilla.org/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/ach/ . I have wrote a tutorial for SVN, and you can find it at https://developer.mozilla.org/User:Milossh/SVN . If you have any questions regarding those, please do ask here, or ping me via email(mdinic@mozilla.com), or on IRC - irc.mozilla.org channel #l10n.
San, Any news on this?
Working on it. Will get back to you asap.
Hallo Millos, Is there any way you could send me the translation files as an attachement? the SVN thing may be a much longer process to delve me. Am not moving as fast as should be as am caught between a number of things. thanks.
San James, It's not a problem for me to create a zip bundle for you, but the thing is that some of those files are changing every once in a while, so it would be nice for you to have the repository checked out locally and working on it. On the other hand, I totally understand you're really busy, and I'm offering any help you might need with that. Just pop on IRC(irc.mozilla.org, channel #l10n) and ping me, or shoot me an email. I can give you shortcuts to this in no time. Thanks!
Hi Milos, That will be great, I will shoot you an email, I will also CC Dwayne, I guess he can help add them to Pootle so we can grab them directly from there which in any case should be much easier, pretty much like what he did for the Luganda web parts.
San James, any news here?
Component: www.mozilla.org/firefox → www.mozilla.org
San James, ping.
These were completed, Dwayne can also confirm, but we worked on these.
San James, Actually, I don't see any of the files I listed in this bug description being translated. Mind checking again?
Commit r107068 add all .lang files except some new videos/ to Acholi translations. None of the other non-.lang files have been translated.

Dwayne, we'll need all files in /ach/ translated (.html and some includes). Reopening this one.

Milos -> Comment on another language from Pascal was to focus on .lang files. I'm not sure which of those listed in comment 0 are still needed.
Dwayne, A number of UI strings are in .lang files, and we're periodically adding more to said .lang files, which is why we try shed some light on them and keep them up to date and fully translated. As for non-.lang files, check comment 1 and make sure all of the listed files are fully translated.
OK, but I'll need some more time to decide how best to expose those to Acholi translators.
Dwayne, SVN is publicly accessible, so they can just fetch files, translate them, and give them back to you or me to commit them for them.
Sure that's an option but then they're using text editors and not a translation tool.
How about Virtaal? cant it be of help in this instance?
Milos -> are you going to look at some .lang conversion on those files? In the mean-time I will look at other approachs (html2po/php2po or just plain text translation)
I've found a way to use html2po. But I need to do some coding to implement it. I don't expect this before 2012-08-03 though. But the solution would allow translation on Pootle without need to delve into HTML files directly. I think it is worth waiting for and should bring these files in for all languages hosted on Pootle and doing the Mozilla .lang project translations.
Dwayne, any news on this? Did you manage to work this out?
(In reply to Milos Dinic [:Milos] from comment #21) > Dwayne, > > any news on this? Did you manage to work this out? Hi, sorry I've been silent on this. I got one way working html2po. Just wanted to do some more testing. I can probably get that up so that San James can translate. I'll then need to look at the reverse process.
San James, this files is a set of PO files that correspond to the HTML files needing translation. Can you please look at translating these offline. You can upload the completed work here. Hopefully I'll have the back-conversion in place so that we can make the needed HTML files.
Translate HTML pages committed in r108352 to r108362
