Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Ubuntu; X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0
Build ID: 20111115183813

Steps to reproduce:

I switched Inbox from one account to another and the wrong email was displayed in the message reader

Actual results:

Rather than displaying the correct message it either displays the previous message in the inbox I switched to or a partial message. I've tried clearing my .msf indexes yet this problem persists

Expected results:

The correct message should have been displayed when I clicked on it.

See bug 617900.
Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion, however this is a consistent issue between switching inboxes. Every time I switch from my secondary inbox to my primary inbox this issue is seen.
Does this happens in -safe-mode too (see http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe-Mode) ?

Anything in Tools -> Error console when this happens ?
Colin, did this happen for you prior to version 8? Do you still see the problem?

Hi,

This issue was not present prior to version 8, and actually as of version 14 seems to be gone again. So something between was wrong.

The issue was extremely easy to reproduce.

Setup two accounts, 1 on a slow IMAP service, read email on slow imap service, while it's still trying to fetch data click on inbox of fast secondary account and it will almost always incorrectly read the mailbox data and display a munge of headers, full message (unprocessed), and partial next message.

This happens in safe mode as well, no error in console, it's just like the parser agent for the messages file fails to identify the correct message and display the correct data.

I'm seeing this issue (or a similar one?) in 15.0; I didn't see it in 14.0.
I have one tab open on my work email (one server), and another on my personal email (a different server). When I switch from, say, the work to the personal email, it sometimes continues to show the work email I was last viewing. Clicking on a a different personal email does not change the display.

If I change the view, from, say, Classic View to Wide View (and then back again), that seems to kick Thunderbird in the head, it displays the proper message. But I have to continue to kick it every time I change tabs until I restart it.

I'm on a Mac.

Steve, do you still see this issue with TB17?

I apologize for not noticing this question earlier.

I'm now on TB 38.3.0 and don't see that problem. But I do see a different one; when I click "write" to write a new message, or "reply" to an existing one, the compose window briefly shows whatever it had immediately before, before being cleared (new message) or initialized with the appropriate contents (reply). I don't remember when it started, I think TB 38.1 but it might have been TB 31.7 or earlier.

One good way to see the effect is to select a message, click "reply", notice what is there, then dismiss the window, then click "write", and see the previous contents briefly.
