RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 665527

People

(Reporter: xircal, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:8.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0.1
Build ID: 20111120135848

Steps to reproduce:

1. Firefox hangs when attempting to access "about:permissions" unless "Clear Recent History" is used every so often.

Actual results:

1. Unresponsive script warning attempting to log into "about:permissions". In this respect, I have a Master Password enabled.
See screenshot: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/815/aboutpermissionsscript.png/

Stopping the script enables access, but then, sites cannot be deleted. If the script is allowed to continue, Firefox hangs with a "Not Responding" message. Event Viewer displays the following data:
Hanging application firefox.exe, version 8.0.1.4341, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

As a workaround, using the "Clear Recent History" menu (CTRL+SHIFT+DEL) to change the context menu to "Everything" at the top and then checkmark all the boxes enables Firefox to function properly again, but within a week or two, this sequence of events repeats itself.

Obviously, going the above route every time is inconvenient to say the least since all my settings, passwords and cookies will be removed.

Expected results:

The "about:permissions" menu should function without having to take the drastic steps mentioned above.
Component: Menus → Preferences

This should be fixed in Firefox 10 (currently on the aurora channel). Please reopen if you can still reproduce it there.
