opening the about windows is no automatic update, it's a manual update.

Matthais: Selecting Firefox > Help > About does indead trigger an update. It is not "manual" update -- by selecting "About" the user has not indicated they wish to update the software. Firfox > Options > Options > Advanced > Update Uncheck all the update options, and then click ok. Firefox > Help > About And an unprompted update takes place. It appears the update settings are not applied until after the browser is restarted.
