The line number code in bug 246620 doesn't work with non-HTML documents because the appropriate nodes aren't created by the parser.

See an example at <http://www.rossde.com/PGP/pgp_keysign_reg.txt>.  Viewing the source of that page has the indentation required for line numbers but no actual numbers.  Thus, the display appears as if the lines are double-spaced.  However, there actually are blank lines between the text lines.

Using Firefox 26.0a1 nightly, this is not resolved.

HTML - line numbering works.

If I knew how to fix this I would've done it years ago. :) Looks like Henri was doing something related in bug 706394.
