User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Ubuntu; X11; Linux i686; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 Build ID: 20111221214946 Steps to reproduce: After being away for eleven days, upon starting Firefox I got a message that due to some error, sync hasn't been able to complete in 7 days. Technically, this is correct as it's hard to complete anything on a computer that's off, yet it's quite obvious this message is spam. Expected results: I'd suggest disabling this warning if Firefox itself hasn't been run in 6 days.
This message will only be shown if the first sync after your away period is not successful. I think this is a rather useful warning: due to whatever reason, we haven't been able to sync your data successfully for at least 7 days and now that we've tried again it still didn't succeed. Do you not agree?
So you say it must have failed somehow? I guess it's impossible to check that now (unless there is some log somewhere). I can't think of a reason it would fail for -- network connectivity was uninterrupted, and I've tested it just before with an apt run (which happened to upgrade Firefox from 8 to 9). I wonder if it could be caused by sync running right after upgrading?

Check out about:sync-log and look for the latest error-* entry. Feel free to attach it as a file to this bug (NOT copy and paste!)

Ok, cool. There appears to be no remark of successful syncs (which worked before), just this error (attached).
Error is NS_ERROR_NET_RESET. Probably a glitch in the network if the error only occurred once and Sync is now working fine. Resolving this as WONTFIX since the warning worked as intended and we currently have no intention of changing this feature.
