User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/16.0.912.63 Safari/535.7 Steps to reproduce: My Regional Settings are configure for English(India) with Short Date Format Set to dd-MMM-yyyy. This results in a Short Month name being displayed as part of the date. Actual results: Whenever I create a new contact, the Birthday field displays "-Oct-" for reason. (Please see attachment) Whenever I try to open a contact record with already defined Birthday.. the DD and MM part are separated by "-Oct-", creating a confusion. (Please see attachment) Expected results: The Contact record should have followed the System Configuration and displayed 21-Feb instead of 21-Oct-02 as displayed in the attachment.

(In reply to Pritam Dutt Gautam from comment #0) Just to test; can you change your regional settings of Windows to the default value and then check Thunderbird?
Hi, When set to normal of dd-mm-yy which is numeric in nature no problem is observed. The problem only occurs when the format is changed to include a string is introduced by setting the format to dd-mmm-yy.
(In reply to Pritam Dutt Gautam from comment #2) With that description, I think this is a valid bug.

This may be duplicate of bug # 534466, but is still an issue. Unless it it resolved, how can it be marked as resolved/fixed? as is the case with 534466. The reason for opening new bug request was the fact that bug # 534466 has already been marked as resolved. Hope someone will look into this.

Anything in Tools -> Error console when this happens ? Does it happens also when you start Thunderbird in safe-mode (ie without extensions) ?
Yes it happens even in vanilla installation without extensions. I have tested this problem exists in Windows 7 and Windows XP for sure.. Also, I don't see anything in Error Console.
Severity: normal → S3
