User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:12.0a1) Gecko/20111228 Firefox/12.0a1
Build ID: 20111228031049
Steps to reproduce:
Banner ad for Lufthansa on NYTimes.com home page (www.nytimes.com) showed pixelated text for the Lufthansa name and logo. Some other text was fine. Same text and logo appeared sharp when using Chromium 18.
Actual results:
Some flash content lacks vector sharpness
Expected results:
content should have been sharp, the same way it appears in Chromium or other browsers

Screen shot shows banner ad in Firefox on left and banner ad in Chromium on the right. The yellow "Lufthansa" text and logo on the left of each banner illustrate the pixelation in Firefox.

David -> Wouldn't that be a Flash issue? What version of Flash is installed for Firefox? What is the quality set to for Flash in Firefox? I know Chrome has Flash built-in so not sure how you tell version #s...
Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode (so we can check if HWA is the cause)? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

Wild guess: Not the default zoom level for that website?
Does it look correct by zooming one or two levels out?

Flash 11.1 is in FF and I suspect that Chromium uses the same plugin.

Nice wild guess. I changed the zoom up and down and returned it to default and the pixelation happened to varying degrees whenever I was not at the default zoom. This happened with Chromium just as much as with Firefox.
The takehome message is that zooming flash content apparently works lousy in all browsers and on both Mac OS X and Windows.

Summary: flash text pixelated → flash text pixelated if not using default zoom

We're in the process of removing support for plugins (bug 1677160), so I think this bug is irrelevant now.
