Bug 701875 added a new occurrence instead of moving the existing one :-/

Maybe I don't understand correctly, but I think that was intentional - upgrading to a version that uses omni.ja leaves omni.jar in place (bug 707254), so they will both exist.

Right, that bug was not linked to bug 701875, so indiscoverable.
Let's wait and see what happens there...

This seems to have been fixed; I see no instances of omni.jar in http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/browser/installer/removed-files.in.
