When I double click any file downloaded in the download manager, I get the Launch Application dialog which seems to suggest that the file is not associated with any application (see the screenshot). Same thing happens when I right click and say Open Containing Folder.

Perhaps a dupe of bug 675466, or perhaps a little different because gnomevfs is not installed.
Depends on: 713802
This happens to me with nightlies on Kubuntu 12.04 (note KDE so not Gnome-based, maybe I'm missing GIO and/or GnomeVFS). Everything in the SeaMonkey Download Manager and new Firefox active Downloads drop-down menu is treated as a "file" Content Type. Is bug 515189 a dupe of this?

This should be fixed by bug 713802.
