STR: - Use Nightly. - go to AMO - enter "Bugzilla" into the search box and wait for suggestions to pop up - note "BugzillaJS" as part of the suggestions. - Hit enter - note BugzillaJS is not on the results page. I presume, the dropdown does not care about compatibility while the results page does, so since Nightly is currently incompatible with BugzillaJS, it shoes up in the former, not the latter list of search results.
I swore there was already a bug filed for this, but, yes, incompatible results are intentionally shown in the search suggestions results. And we do autodetect your Firefox platform/version to automatically filter results on the search results page. Without the filters applied, BugzillaJS shows up as expected: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=bugzillajs At the AMO work week we discussed ideas for indicating (in)compatibility from the search suggestions. Thoughts, gkoberger/fligtar? Somewhat related: maybe it's time to alter the layout to something like rdio's (http://i.imgur.com/Nuwwg.png)?
Summary: Results in suggestions dropdown do not match results page → Indicate incompatible add-ons from search suggestions

So given the following assumptions: * AutoComplete shows things that aren't compatible (sure, why not) * We auto-filter stuff by default Then, if I select something, like BugzillaJS that isn't compatible, can't we turn off auto-filtering for that particular search? Not sure what happens when I click on a result, but instead of just doing a query for BugzillaJS, it could opt to turn off magic filtering.

If you select "Search add-ons for 'bugzillajs'" then you are taken to the search results page for that *search term* (not the most-likely-to-be-correct add-on): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=bugzillajs
Hmm okay, I'm willing to concede that that's reasonable behavior.
Thanks for filing this. Due to resource constraints we are closing bugs which we won't realistically be able to fix. If you have a patch that applies to this bug please reopen. For more info see http://micropipes.com/blog/2014/09/24/the-great-add-on-bug-triage/
