this has been occurring off and on, usually when i use the stubs installer. mac only. today was using 2001.03.12.11 stubs installer for the commercial bits. unable to get a log from MacsBug --system heap trashed. no talkback incident generated either, since this occurred during installation. the crash happened *after* the files were downloaded, during installation of the Navigator product.

Samir, we *have* to nail this one. Spotlight should help, but if we have to ship an installer with .xSYM file, and run Spotlight on QA machines, then we should do this.
Don't know if this is a dup since we have no stack trace. Let's leave this open. se, If you can provide a stack trace then we'll take it from there. Else, using a debug build means we'll need a debug xpcom.xpi. We can schedule a time to undertake this time consuming chore and I can debug on your machine when it's free.
Simon, This sounds like it's crashing in the XPInstall engine. Hopefully we'll be able to reproduce this on se's machine with a debug build.
There was no stack; we crashed down in the filesystem. The system heap was corrupted; that's all we know. Sairuh sees installer crashes a lot (estimate of frequency, sairuh?).
this occurs about 25-40% of the time i use the stubs installer. sorry about the wide guestimate in the frequency --i tend to use the blob installer or sea.bin most of the time for just this reason.
