User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:11.0a2) Gecko/20120113 Firefox/11.0a2 Iceweasel/11.0a2 Build ID: 20120113042010 Steps to reproduce: Let's examine the reasons on would click 'view image': to somehow get a better look at an image that they're already looking at. Well, just eliminating all the rest of the items on the page could indeed let the user concentrate on the image. And if the image has been reduced via height=xxx width=yyy HTML indeed he will see it larger... However, what he usually wants to do, at least there staring at it in 'view image' is to.... * see it larger *. Yes it might be silly to make the current picture larger for him causing pixel blocks to show etc. but that is what he usually wants. He reasons: CTRL++ makes text larger, here I am in 'view image', unable to make the image I'm looking at larger. The best I can do is save to file and then use gimp, xli, feh, to make it larger, Fooey!

Hi, please provide actual steps to reproduce. Zooming in works on an image for me, unless it's already zoomed to fit the window, in which case you have to click it to zoom in.

My god I found I can actually zoom images via the top menu. Apparently one must be only browsing the image with no webpage involved. However why doesn't 'zoom' appear in the right click menu when one right clicks when viewing e.g., https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/skins/standard/index/file-a-bug.png Browse that URL then right click.

CTRL++ works on it. But if there is no Zoom in the right click menu, nobody will ever guess... True there is no zoom in the right click menu when viewing HTML, but...

OK, now you're more clear. I think that it's quite enough that all the standard ways of zooming work, but I'll leave it to the UX people to decide.

Also there is the case of right clicking an image embedded in a web page. Perhaps 'zoom image' could always be present in the menus. That way one wouldn't need to first 'view image'. Of course it would, yes, get bigger than its frame in the page...
