We need a logo and a mascot for Mozilla Antarctica, a web-portal and community to introduce Mozillians from far-south to the rest of the world, to post occational updates, interviews and share user-submitted content.

Hi there, apologies for the slow response.

I think it's great that we're dedicating resources to build the Mozilla Antarctica community, and we're happy to help as best we can, but here are some initial thoughts and concerns:

* Is this bug asking for a logo or and entire website, or both?

* I'm not sure if you know, but we're actually in the process of revamping mozilla.org, and the many sites that fold under that, along with establishing a stronger visual ID that connects community sites closely to mozilla. This won't be in the shape of a unique Logo, but it will provide assets that you can use on your community site to help give it that official "mark", without interfering with the local flavor of your site.

* You can learn more, here: http://onemozilla.org/

* This is not something that will be ready in the near term though...so, I'd ask if you can be patient and hold off on this until we roll that out. Happy to answer other questions you may have. But putting this one on hold for now... or I might also close this in the short-term, and have you reopen if necessary. How does that sound?

Only a logo - a penguin-centric-something was the teams' expectation, but we have complete faith in Sean's "reticulation" ability, that it'll always be better than our planned visualization.

Trust me, we do :)

Have anything have been decided yet on that? MCS will love to be on the Jedi-council when it sits to discuss these points. Plus, I was under an impression, that assets.mozilla.org will come up sooner.

This was a request for a logo only. But if my understanding is correct, and you're suggesting to hold-off MCS till OneMozilla is fleshes out which in fact is also termed to take a while - then why not use some more hands to finish off that project sooner? MCS team will be more than excited to dive in & help out - and learn something along the way.

I see. Penguin would be cute, but as I said we're not able to produce new mascots per locale at this time. And in terms of presenting a unified look across the entire community... creating a different mascot per locale is likely not the best solution in my opinion. The "one mozilla" project will help provide some unique unifying IDs that each locale can add to their website that would fold it under the larger mozilla umbrella. I believe this is currently being done as a dynamic mozilla tab with geo-targeted content, promos, etc. (please see the blog for updates and details on that)

I'm not working on this project in particular, so can't answer specific questions (sorry) but the best place to follow along would be the blog I referenced. You're welcome to post your thoughts and feedback there, or contact the team directly. We're making every effort to run the whole project in the open via blogging and soliciting feedback along the way.

Hope this helps.
would you agree to close this bug and reopen if needed? I think once the One Mozilla work is finalized (ideally this Quarter) it will address many of your concerns here.
