Amy and I have context for this that I won't repeat here. Basically, we need to get the equipment in place to deploy rev5 minis with lion. That has a few parts: - DeployStudio support for rev5 hardware - A base image - Puppet manifests John Ford will be working on the latter, so if possible it'd be best to find a way to get him started quickly, without waiting for DS support. I see two ways to do that: * Get the rev5 minis that were being used for performance testing gathered somewhere like scl1 and put on the build network, with fresh Lion images and https://mana.mozilla.org/wiki/display/SpecOps/New+Mini+Setup+Process * Re-purpose a few of the existing rev4 lion minis, which DS already supports, putting a fresh Lion image on them. I *think* there's a "fresh" master image in DeployStudio now. John, how many would you like, and on what kind of timeframe will you be able to work on this?

I would like one scratch machine at my desk in sfo (already have this) and 3-4 machines on the build network with fresh installs if possible. If we have more than 4 spare rev5 machines, its helpful to have more available in case something goes wrong with the machines while I test puppet stuff. I was able to find Xcode 4.2.1 as a .dmg, so I'll see if I can find one for 4.1.

Depends on: 696428
UPS shows the 10 initial machines as being on time for a delivery tomorrow. Do we have any estimates for when these machines will be available for me to test with?
The 10 r5 minis have arrived and I have prepared 6 of them to be deployed to scl1 today. The host names will be r5-mini-{001...006}

The network in SFO was very slow (60k) to re-download the dmg. Its uploading to stage /home/jford/xcode_4.1_for_lion.dmg It is named "xcode_4.1_for_lion.dmg.filepart" until it finishes its transfer $ openssl sha1 xcode_4.1_for_lion.dmg SHA1(xcode_4.1_for_lion.dmg)= d766ef9b3e7c4a1b5b7915e20e8949d9503c5b89

The image has been built and deployed to 6 r5 minis located in SCL1. The host names are r5-mini-001 through r5-mini-006.
