User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1
Build ID: 20111220165912
Steps to reproduce:
load a file to attach it to an email message with Camino 2.1 multilingual on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard using Dutch locale and US-Int keyboard.
Actual results:
date of a file seems to be automatically displayed in US style, i.e. MM/DD/YY.
Expected results:
data of the file should be shown in my local preference, i.e. DD-MM-YY in my case.

Fixing OS, as I filed the bug from my work PC.
Severity: normal → minor
OS: Windows 7 → Mac OS X

The open and save panels are provided by the OS. Does this work in Safari?
Where is this date displayed exactly? A screenshot of the dialog would help.

My mac is in the shop for a few days. I hope I can get the screenshot over the weekend.

I had a second look on a new user account (on 10.7.3), first with Dutch, then with French. In both cases I made sure that System Preferences > Language and Text > Formats was set correctly for the selected language (Nederland and France resp.). Both languages expect dd/mm/yy.
The current nightly (En-US only) works correctly, dates in the File selector dialog display as expected.
Camino 2.1 ML however was wrong in both cases (mm/dd/yy), both in Column and List view.
(and damn, I forgot to check if File > Open and Save As dialogs had the same issue)

I mixed up my builds, and tested with a home made build, using the 10.5sdk.
Official nightlies and release builds display the wrong date format on both 10.7 and 10.6. This is not new to 2.1 though, 2.09 has the same issue.
The home-made Camino I used was build with the 10.5sdk - this works correctly on both 10.6 and 10.7.
I finally had time to check this out myself tonight, and things display correctly (match System Preferences and what the Finder displays) in both 2.1 and 2.1 ML under a French user account on 10.5.8.
This seems a bizarre thing to change/break based on SDK on newer OSes. Stuart, can you think of anything we can do to unconfuse the OS (besides switching to the 10.5 SDK)?
Summary: date in load/save dialog is not properly localised → [10.6][10.7] date in load/save dialog is not properly localised

Fwiw – firefox 3.6.x does it wrong (Jpn user account), but Fx 4.01 is correct (10.5sdk is used for those)
