Steps to reproduce:

Dismissed a read mail message tab.


Actual results:

Focus went to tab to left, my Lightening calendar tab.


Expected results:

Focus should go to the previously in focus tab, in this case my inbox summary tab.  The order of tabs should be preserved, like physical file folders in a stack.  This supports the work flow of reading mail with a lightening calendar tab present.

PS: Ubuntu x86_64 O/S with latest version, updates.

Works better in FireFox.  If I open in new tab from tab 3 of 6 creating a new tab 4, when I dismiss the tab, I fall back to tab 3.  Maybe Thunderbird should be creating new tab 2's in response to activity on tab 1, so falling back left is OK.

The behavior of Thunderbird is that closing a tab shifts focus to the tab to its right. I am not sure if this is configurable.

Browsers used to do that, too, a few weeks back, but it was aggravating, even for developers that are also users, so they stopped!  The should operate like windows and allow you to see the prior when you dismiss the current.  GUI ergonomics 101?
