People

(Reporter: rick3162, Assigned: darktrojan)

Details

(Keywords: regression)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1
Build ID: 20111220165912

Steps to reproduce:

- make a clean Firefox profile,
- install an addon that displays its Options inside the Addons Manager and not in a seperate window
- go to Tools>Add-ons (or Firefox button>Add-ons , or doubleclick on the add-ons name -it's all the same-)
and in the initial/alphabetical listing, press the add-on's Options button:
It will display the options inside the addons Manager window, ok, as expected.
-press the cogwheel icon dropdown menu and click "View Recent Updates"
and in that view you click once more the add-on's Options button.

Actual results:

You get an error popup entitled "Problem loa...".

Expected results:

It should show the addon's options inside the Add-ons Manager, as expected.

Kostas first discovered this bug with extension "UI Enhancer" which fits the requirements above: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ui-enhancer

Bug First mentioned/confirmed here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2141579&p=11672567#p11672567

I confirmed bug on WinXP 32bit using latest Fx 10 beta, Aurora 11.0a2, and Nightly 12.0a1. I reproduced bug with extension "Add-on Manager Hilite" found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/addons-manager-hilite/versions/

This bug occurs for any Add-on that make it's Options viewable within the Add-on Manager and not a dialog window when selecting the the Add-on's Options button in the "Recently Updates" category(CSS id="category-recentUpdates") of the Add-on Manager.

Are we still waiting for bug 714593 fix to land out of MC and merge into Nightly trunk?

The reason I'm asking is that I can still can reproduce the bug 721590, on Win32 Nightly 12.0a1 Built from http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/aee879a3190a

Nightly *is* mozilla-central, so yes, that fix is included in that build.

Saying that, I can't reproduce this on the latest Nightly with the following steps:
1. Install AdBlock Plus 2.0.2
2. Update addon
3. Go to Recent Updates
4. Click Options for that addon

For me, that correctly opens the details view for the addon, where the inline prefs are displayed.

For me when following your steps after installing adblock plus. The adblock plus toolbar button left click menu poped up, instead of showing adblock plus details view for the add-on, where the inline prefs are displayed.

If I use your steps above and install extension 'UI enhancer' or 'Add-on Manager Hilite'
instead I still get the little dialog window box saying "Problem loading" see screenshot here:

Yes I'm certain I'm using the latest Win32 2012-01-29 Nightly. Built from http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/aee879a3190a
just tested with those two addons, and I still can't reproduce this bug. Could you attach the extensions.sqlite file that's located in your profile directory?

(See http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Profiles for how to find your profile directory.)

There's no need, after you mentioned the extensions.sqlite file I did some through testing found out that the regression of bug 721590 on the latest Nightly 12.0a1 build was being caused by a dev build of extension addonmanagerfix1.0@sonco.com.xpi found here:
http://us.mc1207.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=addonmanagerfix1.0@sonco.com.xpi

Note: I notified the Ad-on developer of the problem...
