Details

Steps:

1. Go to https://apps.mozillalabs.com/appdir/
2. Install an application
3. Go to https://myapps.mozillalabs.com/
4. Run the application installed by clicking it
5. Go back to https://myapps.mozillalabs.com/
6. Click the application installed again

Expected:

A new application tab is opened with a new instance of the application selected.

Actual:

The application tab already started and running is put into focus.

Additional Notes:

The underlying issue with this bug is this is inconsistent behavior from running the native application vs. application through the dashboard. Running the application natively will allow multiple instances of one application, but the web dashboard approach does not. We should aim for consistency in this.

Not sure if this is a MWC blocker. Jen, could you provide insight into this? Thoughts on each side:

For: MWC demo heavily focuses on launching and using apps. Launching multiple instances of the same app could be possible.

Against: MWC demo targets individual app experiences (using one instance of each app), not multiple instances.
OS: Windows 7 → All
Hardware: x86_64 → All

After seeing implementations on Fennec Native that appears to be pushing for a single app tab approach, I believe now that this bug is invalid. The one tab approach is correct.
