It would be nice to be able to test Builder with versions of the SDK before they are officially released, to help detect problems before they hit the main release branch. A couple of ideas I had: 1) On builder-addons.allizom.org, pull in the current test build from the SDK's stabilization branch (or the current tip of either stabilization or master, updated daily?) in addition to the current release build. 2) On builder.addons.mozilla.org, add a checkbox/toggle-switch to each user's profile page that will let them opt them in to being able to access pre-release SDKs, then do the stuff up in 1.
Something that would be very easy for us to do would be to add each Beta 1 or RC1 of each release, on builder-addons-dev.allizom.org.
We were going to be pushing new SDK versions to -dev on each beta and rc, but there was a ton of prerequisite rewriting of the xpi builder that needed to occur that made it impossible to do so this time. Going forward I fully expect that we will have new test versions on -dev immediately when they get tagged, barring any issues that cause us to modify the env to handle them.
The builder project has been discontinued as of April 1st, 2014. The announcement last year: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2013/12/18/add-on-builder/ Next steps (still being written): https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/SDK/Builder
