Details

I receive a CSRF Violation on the browserid page when I attempt to sign in. See below:

Can you duplicate this consistently?
And with more than one iPhone?
Please provide as many details as you can.

Noting here that this sounds just like BrowserID GitHub issue #711:
https://github.com/mozilla/browserid/issues/711
Hey James, thanks for checking into this! After some more homework, I think I've discovered the answer to the mystery:

http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/37915/mobile-safari-reverting-to-never-accept-cookies

Since I updated my iPhone 4 to 5.0.1, Safari sporadically resets the "Accept Cookies" setting to "never." Quite annoying. Sure enough, after I enabled cookies again, signing in worked wonderfully.

I'd say, however that there is still an issue here - the error message in the above screenshot is not sufficient to let people know why they aren't able to sign in. It would be much better to say something at the very beginning of the flow if cookies aren't enabled about how cookies must be enabled for signing in to work.

If you need help writing this message and deciding how/when it should be presented, I would love to put a first stab together for you!
Jason - check out this GitHub issue about cookies:
https://github.com/mozilla/browserid/issues/982

If #982 is not specific enough to the issue you found in this bug, then we can open a new issue and relate it to your Comment 2 above.
Actually, yeah, I think https://github.com/mozilla/browserid/issues/835 is the right one, since it is about cookies being disabled. #982 is about 3rd party-cookies, thought that's also a valid concern. Thanks, glad to see you guys are working on this!
