Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
Yes, you're right. It's Adblock Plus causing this, but I wouldn't want to disable such a useful add-on. Do I mark this bug as resolved?

For reference: I was unable to reproduce this issue with Adblock Plus 2.0.3 on Firefox 10 and Firefox 13.0a1. Either it is caused by some specific filter or the issue has been resolved since Firefox 8 (which is rather old).
