Details

The space in each individual cell of the table that displays the headers in the
Mail Window Front End does not match up with the space that is suppsedly
allocated in the titlebar (the bar with the column names).  Playing with the
cells on the titlebar (which usually results in changing the width of the
columns) does nothing to the proportions of the table itself unless you play
with the widths of the first or last column.
