User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/16.0.912.77 Safari/535.7 Steps to reproduce: This seems specific to TB9.0, I am trying on Ubuntu 11.10, it used to work in TB 8.0.1. I always use "Classic" view with message pane so that I could read short email messages without opening new window for reading. When email is longer I used to use Control + Left_Arrow or Control + Right Arrow to scroll the email text in message pane, WITHOUT having to change focus to message pane. With TB9.0 it stopped working! This is very important productivity feature I am used to, I am sure there might be many more. It basically lets to go through large number of emails with keyboard and dispose of short email messages or even longer emails with just simple keyboard strokes as we dont have to open the email in new window. Note I could still open the message in new window and then scroll through it but I would really like to avoid doing that for *every* message I read through. Actual results: Select a message in message list, Pressing control + Left or Right Arrow does nothing. Expected results: If the above selected message is longer, then scrollbar appears in message pane but pressing Control + Left/Right arrow should have scrolled down or up as it happened in TB8.0.1.

While someone looks at it, is there a workaround for this issue to achieve what I described? Otherwise I would have to switch to TB8.0.1 until this is fixed.
Does it work in safe-mode ( help -> restart with addon disabled) ?

Oops I forgot to mention that information when submitting, yes I did try in "safe mode" as you mentioned and it is still the problematic behavior.
If its of any help, I tried with latest TB 10 beta, in safe mode, the bug seems to exist there too.
The problem persists with the latest and greatest(!) Thunderbird 10. Is somebody going to look at this?
Well, just to make it clear, I tried with safe mode also and the problem is still there!

Looks like many other people reporting this issue as its being discussed elsewhere too! Couple of people already confirmed this. http://code.google.com/p/nostalgy/issues/detail?id=6
(In reply to Dnp from comment #7) > Looks like many other people reporting this issue as its being discussed > elsewhere > too! Couple of people already confirmed this. > http://code.google.com/p/nostalgy/issues/detail?id=6 But they all use the nostalgy extension, did you have it installed too at some point ?

As I have repeatedly said above I tried with "safe mode" and it still shows the problem! I don't see any updates to this bug report although this is a *visible change in behavior* that existed for some time and people are accustomed to using it, in fact, relying on it! And we change it with no note to any users! Even the reported problem waits for any meaningful updates!

Hello, what is going on here?
The priority field is primarily for developer use only, please don't change it - at the moment we need further confirmation of the bug (which could actually be a Ubuntu issue, but hard to say atm).
Oh, Okay, thanks. Let me know if I could help in some way, do you want me to try out on Windows? I can do that.
Thunderbird team seems to suggest Patience is the Virtue! Such an important regression being reported for more than a month and although next release vehicle is available sooner this should be considered more urgently because of the regression!
Okay, finally looks like this functionality was available through Nostalgy. The nostlagy svn got the fix, so it works with the latest nostalgy built from the svn repository.
