On the latest nightly, I get a CPU usage of about 20-25 % Still, this should be worth being tracked by the Snappy project.

I have tested it today again and used Process Explorer v15.23 to view CPU/GPU usage.
Firefox v20 is now the Browser with the best result.
firefox.exe (nightly 20121227) ~16% CPU and 1.9% GPU usage
chrome.exe (canary 26.0.1371.0) ~18% CPU and 1.4% GPU usage
firefox.exe (beta 20121219) ~19% CPU and 2% GPU usage
firefox.exe (release 20121128) ~21% CPU and 4% GPU usage
opera.exe (next 12.12 1707) ~24% CPU and 4.9% GPU usage
iexplore.exe (IE10pre1) ~41% CPU and 1.8% GPU usage
