Hey Tara,

We are planning to promote Firefox 11 for Android in late March with a What's New Page to reach our audience of desktop users.

The promo should let users know that they can extend their desktop Firefox experience to a new, shiny version of Firefox for Android and how mobile will make their online life better.

Stay tuned for copy!

Design hand-off for implementation: March 5
Depends on: 724169
Assignee: tshahian → ltom
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Updated design hand off is March 14.

Sync'd with Tara and lforrest: this design will be somewhere along the lines of a mash-up between the branded What's New (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/10.0/whatsnew/) and the older one (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/7.0/whatsnew/).

Top component: Your Firefox is updated message
Smaller component after that: What's new in desktop
Big mobile promo (should be seen before the fold)

Copy ETA Feb 22.

Thanks!
OS: Mac OS X → All
Hardware: x86 → All

Thanks Jaclyn!

Do note that we will need a space to list what is actually new within this release. Laura Mesa - can you please provide the top three new items here?

Does it have to be 3? I know thats the old formula but I can only find two things that are user facing (between Fx 8-Fx 11) : add-on sync and twitter search (and twitter search is kind of old). Ideally the focus should be on Add-On Sync and since Sync is now owned by Greg and I would like him to drive this.

The overall messaging for both should probably center about making browsing easier (twitter search makes it easier to find things on twitter) and add-on sync makes it easier to switch between desktop devices or mobile devices.

Greg, your thoughts?

Will do.

What about centering it around "Your3 Firefox experience becoming richer?: your favorite services are integrated, your favorite add-ons are always available.

Twitter search is clearly interestig but I am concerned that it's only available in a handful of locales. If we manage to link to the official add-on for locales that don't have it (with some universal messaging so it works everywhere), then why not. Another question would be: where would the Twitter search promo redirect to?

For add-on Sync, I am tempted to not mention mobile to mobile sync here. It's a very limited audience and might create confusion (don't want users to think desktop to mobile add-on sync works)

That sounds good to me.

Excellent point. Let's not include twitter search on this and focus on add-on sync for desktops.

+1
Hi all - update that the final release launch for native UI won't go out until sometime around early June (roughly following timeline of FF13). We will need to adjust the desktop message accordingly as we get closer

Thanks everyone
Summary: [Mobile] Design WNP for FF11 → [NativeUI GA] Design What's New page
Can you clarify what that means? If mobile isn't going until june then there is no need for this page with 11. Add-On Sync is also not complelling enough of a feature to stand on its own, so I suggest closing this and elated bugs. I will talk to rel-eng too.
Hi all, chatted with Laura and we're going to close this out and open a new one when we have all the info. The WNP for FF11 is no long needed. Thanks!
