User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0 Build ID: 20120129021758 Steps to reproduce: I ran ThunderbirdPortable.exe -setDefaultMail Actual results: A shortcut (icon) to Thunderbird was placed on my desktop (and, I believe, the desired behavior occured). Expected results: No shortcut should have been created.

Thunderbird.exe -setDefaultMail does indeed create a shortcut. Is creating a desktop shortcut a regression? If it is, then perhaps it changed between when Bug 252971 was filed and when Bug 619718 was fixed probably Firefox has similar results with -setDefaultBrowser
