User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0 Build ID: 20120129141257 Steps to reproduce: ith many tabs open, logged into various sites, the pop-up menus start disappearing as I move my mouse down onto them. I can use the letter shortcuts, but not the mouse. Actual results: A dialog box was open on another tab of another window, or some such insistent state. Expected results: Dialogs on one tab should have no effect on other tabs' menus, or the focus should be forced to the oldest demanding tab and window.
Do you have any add-ons installed? Can you replicate this issue with your add-ons disabled?
I have not worked to get any add-ons, but there is a bunch put in by life on the web. I would have thought Ubuntu would have listed them in some attachment. Firefox surely does not provide an easy list for me to paste in. In fact, Firefox prevents me from copying any details about plug-ins -- I can see but not select text. How would you like me to report them? I am not into transcription. But if any window has a dialog open, all my windows and tabs are hobbled by this bug.

Here are 4 screen shots of my add-ons.
The 2 extensions get installed with your Linux distribution. Can you try disabling your extensions and seeing if you can reproduce this again? Plugins, language packs and the default theme shouldn't have anything to do here. If you can still reproduce, please provide a webpage or pop-up which exhibits the behaviour.
I turned them off. Do you want a movie from my cell phone? The behavior is not something you can snapshot. One place I have seen it repeatedly is when right clicking a URL, to open in new window or tab.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20120226 Firefox/13.0a1 Please correct me if I got the steps wrong: 1. Visit a site. 2. Right click a URL in that site. 3. Move mouse pointer to entries in the context menu. Actual result: the context menu vanishes. this works for me. Can you reproduce this with a clean profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile Please provide some simple steps to reproduce if you can still see this issue.
First, you need a dialog box or simialr sub-window in another tab or window. It works fine when I first start up, and I have lots of tabs that involve logins, and they time out or have popups at intervals. If I cannot find the popup to dismiss, I have to kill Mozilla and restart it. Something like your aol mail login has expired, please log in again popup dialog. What does creating a new profile cost me? I am fond of my cookies, history and bookmarks, but I guess some sacrifice is necessary if nobody believes me. I do the same thing on windows7 and vista, and the dialogs never disappear.

I do believe you, but it is a matter of trying to isolate to find out what could be causing this and attempting to reproduce. You wouldn't need to delete your old profile in order to test this. You can add a new one that you can merely use for test purposes and delete afterwards. http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles
OK< I made a new profile, restored my bookmarks, windows, tabs and will let you know if it goes on the fritz again.
OK, it is back, no ability to mouse-scroll down spell check in AOL mail tab because of login timeout on yahoo mail tab. Dismissed login issue and just spell check corrected this comment with the mouse no problem. Dialog attention is neither switching context nor allowing full functionality on unswitched other context.

David, it looks like this hasn't had much attention since last summer. Are you still seeing this problem? If you are, I will try again to replicate the bug.

Wow, well I have been off the old job with Ubuntu for 15 months, so I cannot verify it in the original environment. Funny, I was getting a similar thing on LinkedIn with IE10, inability to slide the mouse down a menu, except no pushy dialog box and I could move the whole screen and dialog with keys and then slide the mouse up to my choice. Gui is so cute until it is broke.
