Opening for owners of Security content on the mozilla.org site.

*****

We're getting ready to pack up the mozilla.org/firefox site and migrate to a new platform.

There is a tremendous amount of Security content (more than 2k pages), much of it auto-generated javadocs.

We need to figure out what content makes sense to move to the new Bedrock platform (essential items like the Bug Bounty landing page), and what content can be migrated to wikimo, and define a new process for where security content lives and how it gets there (Fred will help).

Here is an inventory of pages on the mozilla.org site that I need you to review for:

*necessary - high priority, must be ported to the new platform
*unnecessary - retire & redirect
*nice-to-have - (will migrate to wikimo over time)

Deadline: Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Content Inventory - /security/announce
Content Inventory - /projects/security

Fred, reassigning over to you, let's figure out the best way to proceed and put redirects in place.

One option - post Bedrock migration, can we take old mozilla.org and retire it as a wiki, in which case we wouldn't necessarily need redirects . . . thoughts?

I believe we want to only bring one page over to Bedrock - mozilla.org/security, which will then be a canonical entry point for Security to use to guide users deeper to MDN or wikimo.

Some notes:

1.) The high-level directory //mozilla.org/security/ is current content and there shouldn't be anything obsolete there (the bug says /security/announce, but it starts a level higher).

2.) The //mozilla.org/projects/security/ content is largely--not completely--documentation for the NSS project. A lot of that stuff is more appropriate for NSS over on MDN.

3.) There are a couple of files in /projects/security/ (directly, not any deeper in the tree) that are still part of the broader "Mozilla Security" group and could be moved to //mozilla.org/security/ (landing page), but they're very old pages with some search juice so it'd be nice to keep redirects in place.

4.) The list of TLDs for which we'll do internationalized domain names, this could probably be moved elsewhere (networking documentation on MDN?).

If moved, redirects are essential for all of this content.
