725114 - show tabs from last time doesn't work without admin account

On Windows 7 logged in with an unprivileged account we have to install Firefox using an admin password. When we actually run Firefox, if we set the option 'show windows and tabs from last time' it does not work. I assume it has something to do with Windows permissions.

This is happening in Firefox 10 but it has happened in previous versions to.

For more clues: the "apply update" button also doesn't work in the About page when a new version has been downloaded. It does nothing. To upgrade Firefox, we have to download a new installer and launch it. When it launches, it asks for an admin password and then installs it just fine.

It looks like there are some other bug reports about this but those are marked incomplete or unconfirmed.

This isn't really session restore - it sounds like the profile is being created in a directory the user account doesn't have write privs to. I thought we'd changed things around so we don't need escalation anymore, but I'm not really sure...

Rob, can you take a look & make sure this gets to the right place? (I don't thing core:general is right but...)

Can you provide the path to the profile directory and just change the username in the path with the string username?

Does the same thing happen with a new profile without changing the profile location?

Have you at any time change permissions under appdata?

Is appdata in the default location or has it been changed at some point?

I'm pretty sure that appdata was the default because I didn't create it and didn't adjust permissions on it. I'll try creating a new profile next time I'm on that windows machine and see if the same thing happens.
