Attached image Bug screenshot
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build ID: 20120205163955

Steps to reproduce:

Update thunderbird from 9.0.1 to 10.0

Actual results:

When folder has received new messages (starred folder) the text appears over the icon.

However, in the other cases the folder name looks positioned more at the right than before upgrading.

Expected results:

Same layout as before.

Strange! although I don't have this problem here:
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:10.0) Gecko/20120129 Thunderbird/10.0
Application Build ID: 20120129064000

Can you start in safe-mode just to check: Go to Help ➙ Restart with Add-ons disabled

Does the problem still happen in Tb13 or 14?
Unduping this bug as it seems it is not fixed with bug 716621.

Andreasn, any ideas here?

Do you still see this problem when using version 17 or newer?

Yes I do, see attachment. TB 17.0.6 on Ubuntu 12.04.

I don't see that, on ubuntu tb 17.0.6, nor on trunk.

I see it right now on Kubuntu TB 17.0.6.

I also apply the work-around to get back the default icons (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1004841). I doubt it has anything to do with it, since I have been doing this for years, but this is the first release that the labels are overlapping.
The "work-around" you link to (which people say work) is to use a build from mozilla, instead of one from ubuntu. If that's the case, this bug is invalid as it's then clearly something ubuntu is applying/changing which mess things up.

I wouldn't have been surprised if that were the case. But testing with the build by mozilla shows the same problem.

It doesn't happen when re-starting in safe-mode, so it seems some add-on is the cause.
Correct. And I narrowed it down to the "Display Contact Photo" extension.

Reproduction: configure TB for unified folders; send mail to myself (on a different account, though it may not matter; watch the "Inbox" label move a few pixels left of its proper position).

Confirmed on my side. Strange why the extension will affect something that has nothing to do with contact photos?

The add-on seems abandoned. The last release was in November 22, 2011.
