Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1
Build ID: 20120208060813

Steps to reproduce:

I was checking for an update of Firefox.
Path: Help > About Firefox > Check for updates

Actual results:

Without my consent, the software had been downloaded.

Expected results:

"Check for updates" should only check and, if an update is found, ask user what to do "Download now and apply changes", "Ask and download later".
That is a very big issue. Just think of the usual situation where a user is connected to Internet with a mobile Internet key and he's charged on metered traffic or the connection is slow. He just want to know if there is an update so he can reach an ethernet connection.

We have a strong usability issue here, a button is expected to do what the label says and nothing more, in this case, it doesn't say "check and download updates".
