Steps to reproduce:
I allowed a thunderbird update to happen on my Mandriva Linux pc
Actual results:
and now it will not open up.
Expected results:
It should have started/opened up for use.

I think you should refer to the Mandriva support team. This link (for example) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1307175
shows that the issue is with the OS libraries.
