User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1
Build ID: 20120208060813
Steps to reproduce:
When Thunderbird is put to background and a new message is downloaded, the star in the folder pane is not shown to indicate a newly arrived message.
Actual results:
The folder pane didn't change its icon for that folder to indicate a newly arrived message. When you put Thunderbird to foreground and move the mouse pointer over the icon, the icon changes.
Expected results:
When the message arrives in background, the icon in the folder pane should change to indicate this directly.

Are you using any add-on to do that (running Thunderbird in the background)?

I've add-ons installed, but with background I mean it is invisible behind other opened windows. You can click on its icon in the panel at the bottom of the screen to show it. When you do it, the stars indicating new messages aren't shown.
The following add-ons are installed: Enigmail, Foxclocks, Lightning, Test Pilot for Thunderbird, and withAttach.

Does it changes something if you run thunderbird with addon-disabled (help -> restart with ...)

It was the add-on withAttach that made the problem. I found it after disabling and enabling the add-ons one-by-one.
It is no bug with Thunderbird.

This bug is there even when I disable all add-on, but less often as to compare if all add-on are enabled.
There is some randomness in this bug and I believed that one test was enough, but not.
