Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.33 Safari/535.19 Steps to reproduce: Upgrading Firefox to version 9 or version 10 causes freezing problems. If I remove all plugins and restart Firefox in safe mode, nothing changes and the software systematically freezes. I don't encounter any problem with Firefox 8.0.1. My network configuration is set to "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network". If I set the proxy manually, the software freezes too. My co-workers have the same issue (on Windows XP). A PC without any previous Firefox install is working perfectly fine with the new FF versions... Actual results: Firefox freezes Expected results: No freeze

What makes you believe that this hang has to do with the networking configuration ? Please try a new profile http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing%20profiles
Severity: blocker → critical
I removed all my FF profiles and the directory : "D:\Documents and Settings\XXXXXX\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox" and created a new profile. Nothing changes and the software freezes when I set the proxy. I've downgraded to 8.0.1 with any pb.

Your XP installation is SP2 or SP3 and not only SericePack1 ? We need a windbg log file. Please attach a a log using the "add an attachment" link in this report : https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_with_WinDbg
