This bug is being marked EXPIRED as it has seen no activity in a very long time.
If you think that the issue reported might still be relevant, please test with a recent release of SeaMonkey and if the problem persists feel free to re-open the report. Thank you.

Bulk reopening incorrectly expired bugs - no activity does not constitute no bug - these need proper checking.

It still happens with this build:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0.2pre) Gecko/20110519 Firefox/4.0.2pre SeaMonkey/2.1.1pre
The steps to reproduce it are these:
1. First of all, you need to have a newsgroups account and have been subscribed to a newsgroup for some time (usually, at least two weeks), so the news server has expired some messages in the newsgroup.
2. Select the newsgroup in the folder pane.
3. Select View -> Threads -> All.
4. Select the oldest message in the message list pane.
5. If the message has expired at the server, you'll get a page in the message body pane warning you of this circunstance with a link to list-ids to clean up expired headers. Click on it.
6. As described at comment #0, the message body pane should then display the first non expired message, or there is none, get emptied.

And this looks to me like an enhancement more than anything else, as it is just an aesthetic issue.
Severity: normal → enhancement
