currently, it is not possible to stop the copying of news messages. (this goes hand in hand with not having any progress / throbber activity when copying news messages). I haven't tried imap or mailbox messages.

This bug is rather old. Fixed? Worksforme?
This worksforme with 2004020909 windows Seamonkey build. Escape stops the copy.
